CV

Frances studied architecture and computational design, developing an array of software, design, coding, technical, research, and fabrication skills.

She worked in an architecture research and digital fabrication lab in the United States for several years before returning home to South Africa.

Since then, she has founded a New York-based literary and intellectual magazine named Strange Matters. She serves as the product designer, conceptualizing, coding, designing, testing, researching, and problem solving the web, print, and branding of the magazine. She also commissions and co-edits essays and makes strategic decisions for the magazine.

After this invigorating project she was bitten by the bug of product design and UXR. Having worked in academic research, and with years of experience in academic editing, she has a depth of research skills fit for UXR, the vocabulary and critical skills to articulate subtle design concepts with precision and empathy, and the design skills to translate words into clean and clear, audience-appripriate designs.

She hopes to find a great team with lovely people among whom she can thrive, learn, and hone her skills. She also hopes to lend her diverse technical and design skilll set to bring great projects to life.
